Physical Activities, Exercises, and Rehabilitation

It is becoming increasingly clear to the medical community that it is just as important for older adults to stay active as it is for their younger counterparts. Exercise helps maintain mobility and stamina, reduces the incidence of disease, and leads to an overall better quality of life.

The following are few examples why you need to exercise:
To increase bone density and prevent Osteoporosis
To improve self-efficiency and maintain independence
To maintain balance and improve reflexes to decrease falls
To improve flexibility, joint range of motion and functional movement
To improve cardiovascular strength
To improve or maintain the ability of individuals (with a chronic condition such as arthritis) to perform daily living activities.

Alzheimer’s & Dementia Care

As experts in Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care, you can trust us to make your loved one’s life, and yours, much easier and more enjoyable. If your elderly loved one is suffering from Alzheimer or other forms of dementia, caregiving can take a tremendous toll on your own physical and emotional well-being. But with FCHHCS professional caregivers’ support, you don’t have to do it alone.

With Fil – Canadian Home and Health Care – Alzheimer’s Home Care Services, your loved one will receive a customized care procedure that will take into account their environment and special needs, thereby making daily life less difficult and stressful.

Respite Care

Fil – Canadian Home and Health is dedicated to providing relief for family caregivers – from a few hours a day to around the clock care. Our caregivers are trained to tend to the needs of your loved ones while you carry on with your other responsibilities and obligations.

Respite Care provides temporary relief to primary caregivers (a spouse, Son, daughter, friend). Respite Care can be provided on an occasional or even regular basis, to allow primary caregivers some time to attend their own affairs.  Home respite care also provides crisis relief to allow the primary caregivers and their families, the opportunity to deal with stressful events such as an illness, hospitalization or a death in the family.

Respite Care is available 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week and for short and long term relief.

Companionship and Friendly Visits

It is common for those later in life to become isolated and feel alone with less social contact. Your loved one, as everyone else, needs a friend with whom he/she can enjoy some leisure activities such as (reading, watching movies, chatting and more).

Our Caregivers are available for individualized activities such as: 

  • Assist with entertaining (going to the park, client’s favourite coffee shop or restaurant, movie theater, etc.).
  • Play games and cards
  • Participate in crafts
  • Arrange appointments (accompanying clients to all appointments such as hairdresser, a place of worship, etc.).
  • Go for a walk

Housekeeping and Meal Preparation

We provide housekeeping services that are tailored to your individual needs.  Our services are designed to assist with routine household activities such as housekeeping, shopping and meal preparation, running errands and household management. We offer the following services:

Housekeeping:  (sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping floors, changing towels, laundry and ironing).

Shopping and Meal Preparation: (shopping for weekly groceries either alone or accompanying you to the grocery stores or supermarkets, helping with meal planning and ensuring a balanced diet, cooking and washing dishes).

Running Errands and Household Management: (going to the post office, collecting dry cleaning, shopping for items or clothes, organizing household items, and assisting in writing shopping lists and personal letters).

Personal Care Services

Fil – Canadian Home and Health Care Services competent caregivers assist with activities of daily living, including but not limited to, feeding, bathing, grooming, walking and transferring.

Our caregivers can create a better quality of life for your loved one by providing personal care and hygiene assistance.  Here is a complete list of our personal care services:

  • Assistance with bathing (shower, bath, sponge bath)
  • Personal hygiene (hair care, skin care, application of lotion, oral hygiene)
  • Dressing/Grooming (dressing, assistance with personal grooming)
  • Assistance with mobility (walking, light exercise to retain and strengthen mobility)
  • Medication (give medication, provide medication reminders)

You are eligible for our services if you: are an older person with significant personal care needs (including Alzheimer’s and Dementia-related needs)

Do you only deal with seniors?
No. Our services are available for anyone who may need assistance with daily personal care. Our caregivers are experienced, well-trained in delivering care, and qualified to assist any client with home and health care needs. We provide services to any individual who is dealing with a health concern that affects their independence.
Do you provide your care services to people already living in nursing homes or retirement homes?
Yes. All our care services can be provided to you in whatever facility you may be. Our services are completely flexible and can be provided to you at your home or at the hospital. For those people who are already living in a nursing home or retirement home, we can provide any additional care services you need.
Is there a charge for an Initial Consultation?
No. There is no charge and no obligation for the initial consultation. The Initial Consultation is booked at your convenience in your place of residence, and is meant for us to get to know you, and to help you understand your choices for care.
Are there any hidden costs to your home care services?
No. Our pricing is completely transparent. After we complete your initial assessment, we will provide you with a document which will include a detailed breakdown of the costs and services that we will provide. Upon your agreement, we will deliver our services to you as outlined.
Can I choose the times that my caregiver visits me?
Yes, you can choose the times of all your visits. Whether you prefer mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnights or weekends, we will accommodate your schedule. You can also choose the length and frequency of your visits.
Are your caregivers bonded and insured?
Yes, all our caregivers are bonded and insured.
How do you select your Caregivers?
At Fil – Canadian Home and Health Care Services, we select the most qualified, knowledgeable, and experienced caregivers. Our selection criteria include:
Personal Support Worker Certificate, or equivalent/necessary experience in dealing with the ill and/or elderly; or
An experienced Home Care provider
Annual criminal record check/ vulnerable sector check
Annual CPR/ First Aid Certification
All of our employees are well oriented, trained and supervised by our management team
